Abra polls open without any hitch, says PNP
BAGUIO CITY — Polling centers in the Cordillera province of Abra opened without any hitches during the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections on Monday, Oct. 30, an indication that reported political coercions there have not succeeded, the Cordillera police said.
Although the number of candidates who have withdrawn has increased to 285, all remaining candidates and the teachers manning the electoral boards of inspectors are secure, said Police Brigadier General David Peredo, Cordillera Police director, in a press conference at Camp Dangwa in Benguet.
He said he had provided police escorts to all teachers serving in the Abra polls after a string of violent incidents in the province. INQ
