CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga—A nine-month-old baby fell from a bed and was swept away by rising tide in the coastal village of Candelaria, Macabebe town in this province on Wednesday (July 13), authorities said.

According to the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office (MDRRMO), the father saw the baby girl fall from the bed but the strong currents quickly swept away the child at around 9 a.m. at Purok Bukang Liwayway 1, Barangay Candelaria.

The mother, during the accident, was at the town hall for an interview for 4PS, the government’s antipoverty program, the MDRRMO report said.

MDRRMO chief Jomel Cruz said the baby’s body was retrieved a few hours after the incident.
