Bontoc, Mountain Province mayor tests positive for COVID-19

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Franklin Odsey of Bontoc, Mountain Province has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and is currently on isolation.

Odsey announced his condition in a statement on Saturday night, adding that he was not experiencing symptoms of the viral illness.

He said he is being monitored by doctors at his home where he is quarantined after his COVID-19 test on Jan. 15 yielded a positive result.

At least 12 people in Bontoc have been infected by the new variant of COVID-19 (B.1.1.7) which is said to be more contagious.

The infections have forced officials to impose lockdowns on affected Bontoc villages.
