Bulacan State University suspends classes due to bomb, arson threats

BULAKAN, Bulacan — Classes at the Bulacan State University (BulSU) Meneses Campus in this town were suspended from Monday to Tuesday (Jan. 29 and 30) after a series of bomb and arson threats made online, authorities said.

In an interview on Wednesday, BulSU President Teody San Andres said students and teachers were asked to hold their classes online while the incident was being investigated.

The bomb and arson threats were sent to some of the school’s teachers and students by a certain “Sindy Enemy of “SindyEnemyOfAll” and “Lyn Ren” since late Monday.

But Major Darwin Barbosa, chief of police of Bulakan, said the whole campus premises were cleared of the threats after the search operations conducted by the personnel of the Bulacan Provincial Police Office Explosives Division, who immediately responded on Tuesday.

Part of the threats read in Filipino: “Good luck on the explosion. You should bless a new room but this will just be wasted because tomorrow you will learn what will happen to the whole Meneses i am not joking because you will start again from the beginning.”

San Andres led the inauguration of the upgraded flooring on the Meneses Campus and suspended classes while the police bomb squad unit conducted a search and clearing operation. Classes resumed in the afternoon.

But due to the continuous threats made by the anonymous senders, classes remained suspended until Wednesday.

Barbosa has already coordinated the incident with the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Office of the Police Region 3 Office at Camp Olivas in nearby Pampanga province. INQ
