Classes in Pangil, Laguna suspended over bomb threat
LUCENA CITY – School classes and transactions in public offices were suspended Tuesday, Dec. 5, in Pangil town in Laguna province due to an alleged bomb threat.
“Classes in all levels, both private and government schools in the entirety of Pangil, Laguna are hereby suspended due to bomb threat,” Mayor Gerald Aritao, announced in a post on his Facebook around 9:30 a.m.
Aritao also declared the suspension of all public transactions at the local government.
In a phone interview, Corporal Chester Allan Dator, the case investigator, said at around 7:30 a.m. a student at the Pangil Elementary School (PES) got hold of a printed message in Filipino that reads: “In a few hours, there will be an explosion at PES and some schools within Pangil.”
Dator said the local police were informed of the threat an hour later. The police immediately initiated precautionary measures and urged the authorities to suspend the classes.
Aritao said the local police and bomb squad were investigating the alleged bomb threat.
