DMW eyes computerization of OFWs’ documents among 2024 goals
MANILA, Philippines — Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Officer-in-Charge Hans Cacdac bared some of his agency’s plans to serve Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in 2024.
In his year-end message, Cacdac told Filipino workers that “uninterrupted assistance” will continue next year.
“Bilang inyong tahanan sa pamahalaan, pangako namin ang walang patid na tulong, serbisyo, at pag gabay upang itaguyod ang inyong karapatan at pangalagaan ang inyong kapakanan at kapakanan ng inyong mga mahal sa buhay,” said Cacdac on Saturday.
(As your home in the government, we promise uninterrupted assistance, service, and guidance to uphold your rights and protect your welfare and the welfare of your loved ones.)
According to Cacdac, the top priority of DMW is the digitization of documentation processes.
This project was started by late DMW Secretary Susan “Toots” Ople.
“Abangan po ninyo ang pagpapalawig ng ating digitalization effort para mapaginhawa ang proseso ng OFW documentation processes na nasimulan noong panahon ni Secretary Toots sa pamamagitan ng OFW pass,” said Cacdac
(Look out for the extension of our digitization effort to ease the processes of OFW documentation that was started during the time of late Secretary Toots through the OFW pass.)
Bilateral relations will also be a key effort next year.
Cacdac said bilateral ties entail dialogues with foreign governments to request increased protection for Filipinos abroad.
“Nandyan din ang pagsugpo sa illegal recruitment, human trafficking, pagtulong sa mga biktima ng illegal recruiters at human traffickers,” Cacdac noted.
(There is also the crackdown of illegal recruitment, human trafficking, helping victims of illegal recruiters and human traffickers.)
Cacdac said the increased funding for the action fund of DMW, which was recently granted by Congress, will enable the department to provide legal, financial, medical and humanitarian assistance to OFWs in need.
For its goals, DMW wants to set up regional offices nationwide and migrant workers offices around the globe.
