Ex-drug group leader busted in Lucena City
LUCENA CITY – A former leader of a local drug syndicate and his associate were arrested by police in a buy-bust operation in this city on Friday, Jan. 27.
Quezon police reported Saturday that anti-illegal drug operatives nabbed Aaron Amora and Vida Amor Cañedo after they sold a sachet of shabu (crystal meth) to an undercover police officer in Barangay (village) Ibabang Dupay around 10:19 p.m.
Police seized five small plastic sachets of shabu weighing 8.39 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P57,052 and worth P171,156 in the street market.
The police also confiscated a motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspects in their illegal drug trade.
The report tagged Amora as the former head of a drug group named after him.
He once surrendered to Tayabas City police sometime in 2022 but he was not held due to reasons not stated in the report. He then resumed his illegal drug trade.
The suspects were detained and are facing charges of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
