MANILA, Philippines — Warm weather is seen in most of the country this Friday.

The state weather bureau said the easterlies are bringing high temperatures nationwide.

On the other hand, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) forecasts cooler weather in northern Luzon despite the weakening of the northeast monsoon or amihan.

“For today, dalawang weather systems pa din ang nakakaapekto sa bansa. Una na diyan ang northeast monsoon or amihan na siyang nagdadala ng bahagyang paglamig pa din ng temperatura dito sa may northern Luzon,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said in a public weather forecast.

(For today, two weather systems are still affecting the country. First, the northeast monsoon or amihan brings a slight cooling of the temperature here in northern Luzon.)

“Mainit at maalinsangang panahon naman ang sa may rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao dahil pa rin sa easterlies,” he also said.

(Due to the easterlies, it will be hot and humid for the rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.)

Amihan refers to the cold winds blowing from Siberia, while easterlies are the weather system caused by the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.

Meanwhile, Pagasa did not raise a gale warning in any seaboards nationwide.

The country is still under the effects of El Niño or the weather phenomenon, which increases the prospect of below-normal rainfall conditions that could bring negative impacts such as “dry spells” or droughts in some parts of the country until the first quarter of 2024, according to Pagasa.

Also, Estareja said that for this month, one tropical cyclone is expected to form or enter the Philippine area of responsibility or none at all.
