Marcos bats for well-planned infrastructure projects

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday said that the infrastructure projects being built must be made with possible future problems in mind.
During the signing of contracts for the Davao Public Transport Modernization Project (DPTMP), Marcos said that infrastructure should be responsive to present needs while anticipating the future.
“We must build while bearing in mind the worst the future will bring, of the earth getting hotter, getting wetter, and not on outdated assumptions that no longer apply. We cannot build climate-resistant infrastructure for our children based on the rainfall and temperature records during our parents’ time,” Marcos said in his speech.
“The same sensitivity to emerging trends and best practices should define our pivot to commuter and commuter-friendly transit systems,” Marcos said.

Marcos thanked financial partners like the Asian Development Bank for helping the project, saying that they would be repaid with a good output.
“Their support will be repaid with work that does not scrimp on the budget, nor cut corners on workmanship, nor block feedback, nor disregard deadlines,” he said.
“My instructions concerning projects across the board, all over the country, are very clear: Deliver on time, on spec, and on budget,” he added.
