Pagasa: Davao Region, parts of Soccskargen to have scattered rains
MANILA, Philippines — The Davao Region and some parts of Soccsksargen are expected to have overcast skies with scattered rain showers due to the trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA) and the easterlies, state meteorologists forecast on Tuesday.
The easterlies refer to warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean.
The LPA, on the other hand, is yet to enter or form within the Philippine area of responsibility, but its trough or extension will bring rains over the two regions, the state weather bureau said.
According to Rhea Torres, a specialist from the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), residents in the affected areas should anticipate rains throughout the day.

“Our compatriots there are being cautioned of the possibility of floods and landslides caused by rains which may persist throughout the day,” Torres said in Filipino during a morning report.
For the rest of Mindanao and its surrounding areas in Visayas, Torres mentioned that generally fair weather can be expected despite some chances of isolated rains.

Meanwhile, in Pagasa’s 4 a.m. advisory, it said that the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, is still bringing light rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon.
The rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, and Western Visayas are also affected by the northeast monsoon, and will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, the state weather bureau added.
No gale warning is hoisted over any of the country’s coastal waters but Torres cautioned sailors in Northern Luzon and the eastern section of the country of moderate to rough waves which may reach up to 3.1 meters high.
