MANILA, Philippines — The Alliance of Health Workers (AHW) called on the government on Wednesday to approve salary increases for health workers and other government employees instead of trying to amend the Constitution.

“We call on the legislators to push and sign the laws implementing salary increase to all health workers and other government employees and stop pushing Charter Change.” AHW national president Robert Mendoza said,

The AHW added that even after the Department of Health had released an order to release health emergency allowances they had not received any funds yet.

“But sadly, it’s almost two months now, no fund was being transferred to our hospitals,” Sally Ejes, the president of the Philippine Heart Center Employees Association-AHW, said.

“We fully demand that the funds for our COVID-19 allowances amounting to P537.5M be released,” she added.
