Informant to get P5.6M reward for NPA leader’s death
The informant who provided information to the military which led to the death of a ranking New People’s Army leader in Davao City is set to receive P5.6 million reward.
Capt. Alberto Caber, public affairs officer of the Eastern Mindanao Command, said the tipster is a civilian from Paquibato district.
“[Army’s 10th Infantry Division commanding officer] Gen. Eduardo Ano has played a key role that led to the capture and death of Commander Alias Parago,” he said.
Caber said the civilian still has to undergo a validation from the police and military before the reward is given.
“There’s a procedure and after the requirements are complied with, it will be awarded,” he added.
Caber did not say whether the informant is a male or a female.
Leoncio Pitao, known as alias Parago, 57, and a female companion identified as Kyle Hermosa, 22, believed to be his medic, were killed in an encounter on Sunday in Paquibato District in Davao City.
Pitao is described as a “notorious NPA leader.” He was responsible for abducting an Army general in the 1990s but was released after a series of negotiations.
He has six warrants of arrest for various crimes from murder, frustrated murder, robbery, kidnapping and arson, Caber said. AU
