The Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday announced the gradual return of the old school break starting next school year (SY).
DepEd made the announcement through Department Order No. 003 S. of 2024.
VP Duterte: Pilot implementation of new SHS curriculum eyed in SY 2025-2026
Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte said on Tuesday that the pilot implementation of the revised curriculum for senior high school (SHS) or grades 11 to 12 will be in School Year 2025 to 2026.
“Ang target pilot natin for the senior high school curriculum is next year, next school year, so that’s School Year 2025 to 2026 pa,” said Duterte on the sidelines of the Chinese Filipino Business Club’s 13th Biennial National Convention at The Manila Hotel.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday said there is no chance for him to change his mind when it comes to allowing the International Criminal Court (ICC) to conduct a probe into the country’s war on drugs.
“It opens a Pandora’s box. It’s still those questions of jurisdiction and sovereignty. I haven’t yet seen a sufficient answer for it. Until then, I do not recognize their jurisdiction in the Philippines,” said Marcos in an ambush interview in Manila.

Alleged 50% ‘cut’ in rebel returnees’ cash aid bared in Senate
Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) commanders are allegedly getting a 50 percent “cut” from the P100,000 cash grant given to rebel returnees.
Former MILF fighters made this revelation when they personally met with Senator Jinggoy Estrada on Tuesday to complain against their commanders. Estrada said Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. was also in the meeting.
Marcos wants DSWD to adjust cash aid for inflation
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. instructed the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Tuesday to ensure that the value of government aid does not diminish amid inflation, said agency Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
After a sectoral meeting with Marcos, Gatchalian said the President wants to study how to best adjust cash grant aids like the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
