LTO to probe an apparent road rage in Subic
MANILA, Philippines — Land Transportation Office (LTO) will conduct an investigation on what appears to be a road rage that occurred in Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority in Zambales.
The incident was recorded on video and it went viral on social media on Friday.
A video posted on Facebook shows a black Toyota Fortuner whose driver seemed to be intentionally slamming his vehicle into a black Hyundai Eon.
The Hyundai was reportedly driven by a male senior citizen.
The Toyota driver then fled from the scene.
“Malinaw sa video na hindi katanggap-tanggap ang inasal ng driver kung saan matapos banggain ay tinakbuhan pa ang kanyang responsibilidad,” LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II said in a statement.
(It is clear in the video that the driver’s behavior, where they fled after hitting another vehicle, is unacceptable and irresponsible.)
He was referring to the driver of the Toyota sports utility vehicle.
Photos taken on the Hyundai after the slamming shows the damage sustained by the small car.
The damage include smashed headlights, a broken tire, and dents across the vehicle’s body.
“I have already directed the Regional Director of LTO-Region III to look into this incident and immediately issue a Show Cause Order to the registered owner of this vehicle,” Mendoza said.
The user who posted the photos on Facebook, Kyla Juico, said she is the granddaughter of the Hyundai driver.
She was able to write down the conduction sticker of the Toyota and she added this information in her post.
The LTO Chief said that Toyota will be placed under alarm.
“With the information relayed by the witnesses, we will be able to immediately initiate actions against the registered owner and the driver of this vehicle,” his statement read.
In a text message to INQUIRER.net, Juico said her grandfather did not sustain injuries from the event.
