Roque’s wife replaced as Pag-IBIG exec
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. has replaced Mylah R. Roque with Maria Lourdes D. Doria-Velarde as acting member of the Board of Trustees of the Home Development Fund / Pag-IBIG Fund representing the private employers’ sector.
Roque is the wife of former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed Maria Lourdes D. Doria-Velarde as acting member of the Board of Trustees of the Home Development Fund, representing the private employers’ sector,” said the Palace in a statement.
“Doria-Velarde replaces Mylah R. Roque, the wife of former presidential spokesman Harry Roque,” it added.
According to the Palace, Doria-Velarde was a deputy general manager for administration of Duty Free Philippines, as well as a member of the Board of Trustees of Nayong Pilipino Foundation and Intercontinental Broadcasting Corp.
“She is also a content creator and culinary arts expert,” said the Palace.
While the reason for the replacement was not stated, the appointment comes after Marcos’ verbal tussle with former president Rodrigo Duterte.
The two exchanged drug use accusations in January.
The move comes amid a performance review of all presidential appointees from the current and previous administration.
