MANILA, Philippines — Manila Electric Company (Meralco) on Tuesday warned consumers of fraudulent text messages sent to some of its customers.

Meralco said the message which was sent through their official Short Message Service (SMS) channel contains an external link which should not be clicked, as the external link is not from Meralco.

“We are receiving reports that some of our customers received a message with an external link from our official SMS channel. Do not click the link. This is not from Meralco,” the advisory of Meralco said.
