P3.1 million worth of ‘shabu’ seized at Clark port
CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga — Authorities intercepted a package containing P3,114,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) at the port of Clark here and arrested the claimant in Makati City late Wednesday (July 5).
In a statement, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 3 (PDEA 3) said the parcel containing shabu was shipped from Philadelphia in the United States of America.
“The parcel was sent to a certain Adrian Lagar, whose real name is Adrian Lagarde, 31 years old, and a resident of Barangay Bangcal, Makati City,” the PDEA 3 said.
“The shipment arrived at the Port of Clark last July 3. The parcel was declared as a bread toaster and consigned to Lagarde,” it added.
According to the PDEA, the package allegedly contained at least 458 grams of shabu.
On Wednesday night, undercover PDEA 3 agents pretended to be personnel of a courier company and delivered the package to Lagarde. He was arrested after accepting the package.
The “controlled delivery operation” was conducted with the Bureau of Customs Port of Clark, PDEA National Capital Region and Makati police.
The suspect faces charges for the importation of illegal substances in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. INQ
