LUCENA CITY — Sea travel for all small vessels in the provinces of Batangas, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, and northern and southern Quezon remained suspended on Friday, Sept. 1, due to the rough sea, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

The PCG-Southern Tagalog district advisory cited a 5 a.m. forecast by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) of a strong gale-force wind associated with the exit of Super Typhoon Goring (international name: Saola) and the entry of Severe Tropical Storm Hanna (international name: Haikui) with another tropical storm, international name Kirogi, also hovering over the Pacific Ocean.

The southwest monsoon was also expected to affect the western and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon, the PCG said.

This meant that all trips by vessels with 250 gross tons or less, like motorized passenger or fishing boats, in these areas were suspended.

On Aug. 27, authorities began suspending sea travel for all small motorized passenger or fishing boats in the five provinces.

The suspension order would be lifted once the weather and sea conditions improve, the PCG said. INQ
