Search on for 2 missing fishermen in Batangas

LUCENA CITY — Authorities in Batangas province have launched a search-and-rescue operation for two brothers who went missing on Monday afternoon after their fishing boat capsized in the waters off Tingloy town.

Batangas police in a report on Tuesday, Feb. 13, said Wilbert Binay, 43, and his younger brother, Edgar Glenn, 42, both residents of Barangay San Juan in Tingloy, went out to fish around
3:45 p.m. aboard their motorized boat “Velocity.”

The police, citing information from their family, said the brothers made a distress call through a mobile phone around 5 p.m. and reported that their boat capsized in the vicinity of Barangay
Makawayan, also in Tingloy.

After the call, efforts to contact them proved futile. The police immediately informed the local Philippine Coast Guard station of the incident.
