Taguig partners with DOST – PTRI for textile livelihood project
MANILA, Philippines — Taguig City has partnered with the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) for a livelihood program for city residents.
The DOST-PTRI and the city government signed on Thursday a memorandum of agreement on water hyacinth processing and fiber making training programs.
Taguig City Mayor Ma. Laarni Cayetano said the program will introduce Taguig as an integration of city and province “where history and modernization can coexist.”
“Isa itong programa which will help us stay true to our desire to introduce Taguig as your Probinsyudad in the National Capital Region where history and modernization can coexist,” Cayetano said.

Taguig City added that the program will also seek to control water hyacinth populations which pose several problems in aquatic environments.
