Possible Taguig mayoral bid not a walk in the park — Abby Binay
MANILA, Philippines — While she is yet to decide whether or not to run for Taguig City mayor, Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay said that vying for a position in the neighboring city would not be “a walk in the park.”
“It’s very difficult to run in Taguig,” Binay told Inquirer editors and staff on Thursday.
“Bulag ako ro’n eh,” the mayor stressed, saying that it would be difficult for her to navigate Taguig City’s internal politics.
In August last year, Binay said that running for mayor of Taguig is an option.
She recently announced that she will make a decision by March this year.
According to her, over 200,000 voters reside in the 10 Enlisted Men’s Barrios or “embo” barangays previously under Makati City but are now under the jurisdiction of Taguig City.
Binay said that she will keep her options open.
Binay, who is on her last term as Makati mayor, recently picked her husband, Makati City 2nd Dist. Rep. Luis Campos Jr, as her preferred successor.
