Romualdez reassures AFP: ‘We are committed to ensure your needs are met’
MANILA, Philippines — Speaker Martin Romualdez said Friday that the House of Representatives and the national government “stand firmly” behind the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
During his visit to the AFP Western Command Headquarters in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, the House’s top leader said:
“We are committed to ensuring that your needs are met, your capabilities are enhanced, and your welfare is prioritized. Your dedication to our country inspires us, and it is only right that we support you with the resources necessary to carry out your noble duties.”
Romualdez said he donated P200,000 worth of rice and groceries to the Western Command.

He also pointed out before the troops in Palawan that the increase in the AFP’s budget was a “strategic decision” meant to help address the military’s needs for equipment, as well as to boost national security.
“The increase in your budget is a strategic decision aimed at ensuring that our military is not only equipped but also prepared to meet the evolving challenges of national security,” he added.
He vowed that the government will continue to provide resources for the country’s protection.
“Rest assured, the government is with you every step of the way, committed to providing the support and resources necessary for the safety and security of our beloved Philippines,” he said.
